Tradition With A Twist

By Marianne Moore

St. Ambrose Catholic Church + The Dogwood in The Grove

When it came to planning their wedding, Greta and Kevin didn’t follow a formula. They followed their hearts. They planned their wedding weekend, their way. The celebration honored timeless tradition while making space for what mattered most to them.

Instead of a traditional rehearsal dinner, they invited only their immediate family to Saint Ambrose Catholic Church for a private ceremony the night before their big celebration. With just a handful of their closest people in the pews, they exchanged vows in an intimate, sacred space, then gathered for a quiet dinner at Lorenzo’s on The Hill. “It was personal and meaningful,” Greta said. “It gave us time to slow down and be fully present with our families.”

The next day, the couple shared a second ceremony. It was brief but heartfelt and witnessed by a packed room of loved ones. Then they headed straight into the reception at The Dogwood in The Grove. Surrounded by rich floral details, custom touches, and high-energy music, Greta and Kevin didn’t just host a wedding. They celebrated the start of their marriage with style, intention, and joy.

“One of my close friends gave me the best advice,” said Greta. “She told me that at some point during the reception, to take a moment with my husband and really look around. We did, and it was grounding and surreal. Seeing everyone who showed up for us, all in one place, that meant more than I can put into words.”

From the details to the deep connections, Greta and Kevin’s wedding was a true reflection of their story. A reminder that weddings don’t have to follow tradition, they just have to follow what matters most.
