Real Moments | Alyssa + Ryon

June 10, 2023 | Bethany & Zack Photography

“We postponed our wedding by two years due to COVID and it was the best decision we ever made. We didn’t know what we were doing the first time and rushed decisions. By postponing we were able to figure out our style and what we wanted so we could make the right decisions for us and enjoy the process along the way. Plus, we were able to have all our family and friends alongside us to celebrate who would not have been able to be there during COVID.”

“My mom is a floral designer and took it upon herself to do all of the floral arrangements for our wedding. She converted the basement of our house into a floral shop the week before our big day. I will always remember my family coming together and helping my mom in whatever way we could, we put on music and had a great time. I am so grateful for my mom doing our flowers, it was so special having that piece of her incorporated into our wedding; it just meant that much more to us for her support.” Alyssa adds, “I have always been closer to my mom than my dad. She is my rock; she means everything to me. I wanted to find a way to thank her. I had my own first look with her, she walked me down the aisle with my dad, and added a mother-daughter dance. One of my favorite moments was my first look with my mom. I will forever cherish seeing her face light up and tears form in her eyes.”

What advice would you give to couples planning their wedding?

Alyssa: Enjoy the wedding planning process. It will be stressful but it will also be exciting; cherish every minute of it and let the tears flow, good and bad ones. Pick a few key items that are really important to you both and spend your money on that. For us, the photographer, venue and food/bar were the most important. Advice that stuck with us is “photographs and videos last forever”. Don’t skimp out, splurge on a good photographer that you love.

Ryon: Start the planning early and act as if your wedding is a week before it actually is. That way you get all the details and crafts out of the way and can enjoy your wedding week! We were able to sit back and appreciate all of our appointments the week before and did not feel stressed or rushed.

Alyssa: A unique opportunity our venue offered was to have llamas present during the cocktail hour. They were adorable and our guests loved it! It made for a fun and memorable experience for all!
